To all SWE Families;
I've received many great inquiries about equipment renting (and returning) for this upcoming hockey season. I hope this answers most of your questions. If not, please contact me with the information listed below.
We will have two opportunities for those interested to pick up rental equipment. The first will be on Saturday, October 9, from 5pm-6pm and the second will be on Sunday, October 10, from 10am-11am. Both sessions will be in the mezzanine at the Eagles Nest (upstairs behind the glass that overlooks the ice).
The cost to rent a bag of equipment will be $50/bag/skater. For those who are participating with Southwest for the first time, your $50 is a deposit only and will be refund/returned when you return your bag at the end of the year. Obviously, this is designed as an introductory "perk" to help ease the cost of hockey to new families trying our organization for the first time. For the rest, $50 is a great price to ease the cost of hockey, especially at a young age, when kids grow out of equipment so quickly! It's a win-win for all! We will help make a personalized set of equipment for each skater and size them accordingly when you arrive at one of those sessions.
Also just a reminder that all rental bags will be available on a first come first serve basis. We have not run out in the past but we would hate to have someone miss out.

I do need to emphasize again that if your skater has participated with Southwest for a couple years and they are trying out for Mite A or higher, it's time to start buying gear your own. Sorry to be a party pooper, but, we have a great influx of new skaters this year (believe me, I'm getting all the wonderful equipment rental request emails and love to see all the new interest!) and we need to ensure that we can take care of all the new families and allow them an opportunity to maybe introduce hockey to their kids and ease the financial strain to do so.
If you still have equipment from last year and want to extend it another year, please let me know so I can update my records and account for the equipment. Even if you already told Joe, please tell me too! If you have equipment and need to return it, please try to get in touch with me so we can make arrangements so I can get the equipment back before Friday, Oct 8 (the day before the rental sessions, I need to restock it and do any repairs/cleaning).
