The Association unanimously passed the proposal on the agenda for a name change to Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey Association at the annual meeting on Wednesday, April 16.
Members voiced their support of the name change but also acknowledged the legacy of the Southwest Eagles.

Hello Southwest Eagles families!
This year’s annual meeting is one you don’t want to miss. It is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 7 PM in the Eagles Nest Mezzanine. As usual, we will be voting on board positions whose current term is up.
Also up for voting is the re-branding of the Association from Southwest Eagles to the Verona Wildcat Youth Hockey which includes possible uniform changes.
Positions open for election are:
President (2 year term) – The President shall preside at all meetings and have general supervision of all affairs of the Association. The President shall act as Agent of the Association and as such, shall have authority to sign all deeds, leases, conveyances and other legal and official documents.
Registrar (2 year term) – The principal duties of the Registrar shall be to account for all skater registrations, including USA Hockey registrations for both skaters and coaches. Any payments accompanying registrations shall be accounted for and passed along to the Association Treasurer. Any ice credits which shall come into his or her hands from the Treasurer’s records shall be accurately accounted for. In addition, the Registrar shall process paperwork for transferring skaters, and association skaters born outside of the US, for submission to WAHA and/or USA Hockey. The Registrar also prepares official team rosters and submits them to WAHA prior to the deadline of December 31, and distribute patches earned by players at the end of the season. All moneys received, statements and inventories of moneys received, and generally all matters pertaining to his or her office shall be reported to the Board of Directors.
The Age Level Directors (ALDs)The Age Level Directors consist of 7 elected officials that serve one year terms. Age Level Directors are responsible to address any issues that arise with players, coaches or teams during the year at their level. Age Level Directors will assist with the registration and needs of all skaters at their level.

Just a reminder that each current member of the association may only bring one Proxy vote.

Submissions should include a title for the article, the body of the article, and optionally a picture or two. Submissions will be considered for relevance to the SWE Hockey program. Submissions can include, but are not limited to, tournament results, community outreach or upcoming events that involve the SWE hockey teams and program. Submitted article content may be editted prior to posting.
